Sky Hyacinthe, Executive Director
Sky Hyacinthe joined ELEVATE New Orleans in October 2009, and oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations including program development, human resources, communications, and college placement. Sky currently oversees all functions of the organization, with emphasis on strategic planning, fundraising, financial management and partnership development. Prior to joining ELEVATE, Sky worked as an international marketing coordinator for Icon-International. Sky began his collegiate basketball career at Johnson & Wales University, where he played point guard from 2000 through 2002. In 2002, Sky transferred to the University of Connecticut, where he was a member of one of the nation’s elite basketball programs. Sky received his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Connecticut.
Ben Aronin – Lead Coach
Ben joined Elevate New Orleans in September 2012, and oversees day to day athletic operations including player training, strategic skill development, workout planning, coach training, player recruitment, AAU, and school communication. Prior to joining Elevate, Ben had coached 11 seasons on the elementary school, middle school, high school, and professional levels (where he coached with the Grand Rapids Flight of the International Basketball league). He also spent the last 5 years as a player development coach with Peace Players International, and as a component of Pressing On, a ministry he founded to use basketball to positively impact the lives of at-risk, inner city youth. Ben earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from Northern Michigan University as well as a certificate in Spanish in 2006.
Cedar Howard – Academic Coach
Cedar Howard, Academic Coordinator, ELEVATE New Orleans
Cedar Howard Cedar joined ELEVATE New Orleans in January 2013, and oversees day-to-day academic operations including, monitoring student’s grades, tracking their progress, assigning and scheduling tutors, coordinating with ACT prep programs, communicating with parents and teachers about their students’ progress, and assisting students in the college application process. Prior to joining ELEVATE, Cedar taught private and group drum lessons for ten years. Cedar was also a substitute teacher in Orleans and Jefferson Parishes for two years. Howard graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Studies. Cedar also completed an alternate certification program in Physical Education with iTeach Louisiana.
